Despite state reopening, downtown Macon restaurant will continue curbside

Piedmont Brewery & Kitchen in downtown Macon is choosing not to reopen on Monday.

In a Facebook post, officials say getting back to normal, serving up delicious smoked meats and cold house-brewed beers to a dining room full of happy customers would make them happy -- but some things are bigger.

"We strongly feel that re-opening on Monday April 27th would put our staff, our customers and our community-at-large in a very risky spot," the post states. Officials say it's simply not a "gamble" they're willing to take.

The post continued, "So for the time being, we will remain open for curbside delivery and food delivery, including our regular smokehouse menu items, an abbreviated Sunday Brunch menu (Sundays only), To-Go beer (with proper ID) and groceries/mercantile."

In addition, the restaurant says they will continue to adhere to the guidelines provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. They will also follow the CDC's updates on decreases in new cases and hospitalization rates, prior to reopening in a full capacity, according to the post.

The restaurant is aiming to continue working with other restaurants owners, small local business owners and their staff, to determine when everyone is comfortable enough to open the dining room to the community.

"We have had tremendous support from the Middle Georgia community over the last 6 weeks. You and your safety is important to us. We look forward to having y'all over to our place for some food and cold drinks soon.......but for the time being stay home and be healthy," the post continued.

The restaurant will post updates on a potential re-opening date once new information is released.
