Body camera footage shows actor Haley Joel Osment, best known for roles in The Sixth Sense and Forrest Gump, using an antisemitic slur while being arrested earlier this month.
Osment, 37, was charged with possession of cocaine and disorderly conduct under the influence of alcohol in public, both misdemeanors, according to TMZ. Body camera footage shows Osment appearing to be belligerent and unable to keep his pants up while being arrested at Mammoth Mountain in Mammoth Lakes, California, on April 8.
Osment shouted, "I've been kidnapped by a f**king nazi" and claimed he was "being attacked" by officers who were "torturing me" as they repeatedly told him to cooperate.
Police claimed to have found cocaine residue on money discovered with Osment's room key in his ski helmet during the detainment video. The actor was heard accusing an officer of "f**kin' with my life" while in the back of a police vehicle before saying, “I was decent to you and you, and you are a f**king k*ke.
Osment issued an exclusive statement to the New York Post claiming he was "absolutely horrified" by his behavior in the video.
"Had I known I used this disgraceful language in the throes of a blackout, I would have spoken up sooner," Osment said.
The actor claimed that his life had recently hit a rough patch after losing his home in the Altadena wildfire in January.
“The past few months of loss and displacement have broken me down to a very low emotional place,” he said. “But that’s no excuse for using this disgusting word. From the bottom of my heart, I apologize to absolutely everyone that this hurts. What came out of my mouth was nonsensical garbage – I’ve let the Jewish community down and it devastates me.”
“I don’t ask for anyone’s forgiveness, but I promise to atone for my terrible mistake," Osment added.
