Houston County Board of Education to provide Chromebooks for students

As we provide instruction online for students, our goal is to ensure that every one of our families has access to technology and the internet to participate in digital learning.

Any of our K-12 families without a device that connects to the internet may checkout a Chromebook on April 6 or April 7 to use for school during the closure. This includes K-5 elementary children and any middle or high school student who was unable to previously pick up a Chromebook. The Chromebook will allow access to Google Classroom and limited access to other learning sites. The device has the same security filters used at school, to include disabled video gaming and streaming. Due to a limited supply, only one Chromebook will be allowed per family for our families without a device to connect to the internet.

Four opportunities are offered to pickup a Chromebook, as follows:

Monday, April 6

  • 8:00 - 10:00 a.m. - C.B. Watson Primary School
  • 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. - Thomson Middle School

Tuesday, April 7

  • 8:00 - 10:00 a.m. - Feagin Mill Middle School
  • 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. - Langston Road Elementary School

Addresses for the four school sites follow:

  • C.B.Watson Primary - 61 Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd., Warner Robins, GA
  • Thomson Middle - 301 Thomson Road, Centerville, GA
  • Feagin Mill Middle - 1200 Feagin Mill Road, Warner Robins, GA
  • Langston Road Elementary - 315 Langston Road, Perry, GA

For safe social distancing, you will drive through the bus lane and remain in your car.  Your child will need to be with you and will need to know their student ID number, which is their lunch number. Due to safety, we are only serving those in cars and not accepting walk ups.

Please remember that due to a limited supply, only one Chromebook will be allowed per family for our families without a device to connect to the internet. For families who do not have access to the internet, we encourage checking with local internet providers and the promotions they are offering for free internet service.  Click here for a flyer that lists the free internet options.
