MaconBibb Recreation partners to distribute food to children throughout May

The Macon-Bibb Recreation Department is partnering with Abundant Word of Grace to help give out free meals to children throughout the month of May.

According to a press release from Macon-Bibb County, those meals will be given out starting May 4 through May 29 from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. to children 17 years old and younger.

Families can stop by any recreation center in Macon to pick up a free breakfast and lunch; however, the number of meals will be limited. There will be tables set up outside each department with staff in PPE to make sure everyone is social distancing and protected while receiving a meal.

The meals are being prepared by Abundant Word of Grace.

Pastor Calvin Arline says, “While we know that our community has many needs, we're just glad that we can do our part by providing two nutritious meals a day to children who would otherwise go without.” Pastor Arline goes onto say in a statement he considers it a privilege to work with Macon-Bibb Recreation on this project.

Here are the locations that are participating in the meal giveaway:

Frank Johnson Recreation Center (2227 Mercer University Drive)

Bloomfield-Gilead Park (1931 Rocky Creek Road)

Memorial Park (2465 Second Street)

Rosa Jackson Recreation Center (1211 Maynard Street)

South Bibb Recreation Center (7035 Houston Road)
