Ty Dolla $ign Taps Jhene Aiko & Mustard For Singles' Anthem 'By Yourself'

Ty Dolla $ign has returned with a new single ladies' anthem.

On Thursday (October 15), the rapper dropped “By Yourself,” a fresh joint featuring soul songbird Jhene Aiko and Mustard. True to its name, Ty’s latest offering is one for the independent women who’d rather roll solo than settle for something subpar.

“Well is you single, where my single ladies?/ Stacked your bread and bought your own Mercedes/ You your own boss, do it your way/ Quick to tell a broke n—a, ‘Go away,’” Ty raps on the track, before Aiko slides in with smooth rhymes of her own.

“You know I do this s—t on my own/ Pockets long, I'm so grown, I'm so godly/ Even when alone, I'm never lonely/ Only call him up when I am horny,” Aiko boasts on the beat. “Yeah, I'm that b—h and I know it/ And I don't even need nobody else to notice.”

“By Yourself” happens to be the latest of Ty’s string of collabs to release this year following "Expensive" with Nicki Minaj and the star-studded jam "Ego Death," which featured Kanye West, FKA twigs and Skrillex. Days before unveiling the song, the LA musician announced his forthcoming LP will be called Featuring Ty Dolla $ign (due out on October 24), and explained his reasons behind the interesting title. "Many people have said that when you see a song that says, 'featuring Ty Dolla $ign,' you know it’s gonna be fire," the 38-year-old shared in a press release. "As humbled as I am when I hear that, I can’t say I disagree.”

He added, “I decided to name my third studio album Featuring Ty Dolla $ign because there is truly something for everybody on this album. It features some of my most talented friends, on some of the best music I’ve made in my career.”
