Naya Rivera Fans Honor 'Glee' Alum At Lake Where Actress Drowned

Almost a month since her disappearance, Naya Rivera fans took to Lake Piru on Saturday (August 1) to pay tribute to the late star.

Over the weekend, photos of the vigil at Ventura County, California spread around social media, showing flowers, white balloons, art, as well as a gay flag, nodding to her role as high school cheerleader Santana Lopez on Glee. As per CBS Los Angeles, the event was organized by the online fan page Naya's Army and attracted mourning from California, Oregon and even Indiana. KCBS-TV reported that some of the memorabilia was left at the site, while others was sent to the Rivera family. "Without Glee, I swear I would not be here. I would not be alive. That's just a fact," one fan told CBS Los Angeles.

As you know, Rivera took her 4-year-old son, Josey Dorsey, out to the lake, where the two rented a pontoon. The child told authorities that he and his mom went for a swim, but things went awry when she boosted him onto the deck from behind. Once he looked back, he saw her disappear under the surface of the water. Hours later, he was found asleep on the craft and wrapped up in a towel with his life jacket on. Rivera's body was discovered after a five-day search.

Days ago, Rivera's birth certificate was obtained by The Daily Mail and revealed that the star drowned "in minutes." It also revealed that the star was laid to rest on July 24 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Her autopsy previously revealed no underlying ailments, and no drugs or alcohol in her system. She was 33.
