Buffalo Cops Suspended For Shoving 75-Year-Old Man At Protest

Two officers with the Buffalo Police Department were suspended after a video captured them shoving a 75-year-old man to the ground during a protest. The man, who has not been identified, hit his head on the ground and began to bleed. He was taken to the hospital and is in serious but stable condition.

After the incident, the department said the man tripped and fell, but when a video showing what happened was posted online, police officials amended the statement.

The video shows the man approaching a group of police officers who were dressed in riot gear. He tries to tell them something and the officers scream at him to move, then one of them shoves him away. The man loses his balance and falls to the ground, smacking his head on the concrete.

One of the officers moves over to help the man, but another cop stops him and instructs him to keep moving.

Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown issued a statement and called the incident "disheartening."

"After days of peaceful protests and several meetings between myself, police leadership, and members of the community, tonight's event is disheartening," Brown said." I hope to continue to build on the progress we have achieved as we work together to address racial injustice and inequity in the City of Buffalo. My thoughts are with the victim tonight."
